Associate Creative Director

The Associate Creative Director is responsible for collaborating with members of the Executive, Creative, and Production teams to manage the planning, creation, and delivery of graphical content for lynda.com training courses. This is a hands-on management position requiring exceptional design ability combined with the ability to lead and effectively manage a team, while working within the guidelines of the lynda.com brand.

Description:

The Associate Creative Director is responsible for collaborating with members of the Executive, Creative, and Production teams to manage the planning, creation, and delivery of graphical content for lynda.com training courses. The Supervising Designer is responsible for providing leadership and direction to a team of graphic designers to ensure the graphics meet the instructional needs of the course as outlined by the Training Producer and Author. This is a hands-on management position requiring exceptional design ability combined with the ability to lead and effectively manage a team, while working within the guidelines of the lynda.com brand.

Primary responsibilities:

Collaborate with members of the Executive, Creative, and Production departments to ensure all graphics shown in lynda.com instructional courses meet the brand and instructional goals of our courses
Partner with Training Producers, Directors, and/or Editors to develop graphics, including assets, slides, instructional graphics, etc. This includes ensuring that the graphics requested showcase best practices in instructional design, teach the concepts effectively, and meet the visual aesthetic of the lynda.com brand
Lead a team of graphic designers and provide creative leadership and day-to-day management of projects
Schedule, track, and update the status of all projects assigned to the team
Create conceptual graphics, storyboards, and pre-production notes to use as a guide during the recording process
Guide and review all graphics created by the graphics team
Communicate graphic techniques and methodology to the graphics team
Make updates to the graphic production process to ensure it stays current in the ever-changing video-training market
Mentor and provide creative guidance, being attentive to individual strengths and weakness within the team. Developing solutions to reinforce and develop individual skills
Perform supervisory functions including interviewing for new hires, training, mentoring, assessing performance, and career planning
Build a pool of freelance designers to take on projects as needed to scale and grow the team
Develop detailed style guides for members of the graphics team to follow
Develop and monitor performance metrics for the team, including output, efficiency, and quality
Ensure there is effective communication and handoffs between Graphic Design and the rest of the Production teams at every phase of the production process
Work with other Production teams to develop and refine department-wide guidelines, workflow, and processes to ensure quality of our video production consistently meets the educational needs of our customers
