Wizards of the Coast, a subsidiary of Hasbro, Inc., and the world's largest publisher of adventure games, including Magic: The Gathering® Trading Card Game and Dungeons & Dragons® Roleplaying Games has an exciting opportunity for a Digital Designer to join our team. Only local candidates need apply--there is no relocation assistance for this position.

POSITION PURPOSE

Design and prototype appealing graphics, supporting assets for key content, and subtle animations for game and Brand websites. Combine a strong aesthetic sense with the ability to work in several styles, and solid production skills to make designs a reality. Work closely with User Interface Designers and Art Directors and follow up with software development engineers to make sure that designs are implemented according to Visual Design specifications.

Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities:

- Interprets Brand experiences on an emotional level and develops a point of view about how to extend experiences from print to digital
- Defines visual languages for the User Interface of games and websites while adhering to Brand style and functional specs
- Creates stunning and inspiring Visual Design concepts for User Interface elements, screen layouts, icons and animations
- Develops dynamic prototypes, refined design screens, final graphic assets for production and style guides
- Works collaboratively with User Interface Designers to conceive elegant and functional designs

QUALIFICATIONS

- Passion for elegant design and an exceptional eye for the beauty of details
- Express Brand and product messaging visually through the subtle use of metaphor and symbolism throughout your designs
- Proficiency with design tools (Photoshop and other CS4+ applications)
- Proficiency with User Interface production tools (Microsoft Expression Studio- Blend)
- Demonstrable understanding of User Interface Design principles
- Experience with animation applications (Flash, After Effects or similar)
- Strong understanding of the interdependency between Visual Design and User Interface Design
- Understanding of the technical constraints imposed by the different forms of digital media
- Strong knowledge of color use principles, typography, and layout
- Familiarity with the User-Centered Design Process
- Ability to work well in multi-disciplinary groups including technical, marketing, web strategy, and customer experience
- Strong communication skills to develop and influence Visual Design concept options and selection
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, XML, WPF, and Silverlight
- Online portfolio showcasing examples of designer’s excellent design work

Education and Training:

- BA/BS degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or related field
- 3+ years of experience designing graphics for digital products

Prior Related Experience:

- International experience
- Experience aligning retail and digital marketing, and analog and digital play experiences

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.

Time Expected to Reach Full Performance Level in Position:

3 months

Physical Requirements: Office environment, able to work on computer or phone for long periods of time.
