PLATFORM POWER DESIGN/VALIDATION ENGINEER

PLATFORM POWER DESIGN / VALIDATION ENGINEER #1656800 NVIDIA is hiring a Platform Power Design/Validation Engineer for the Santa Clara platform team. You will be working with the Platform Power Architects for designing, prototyping and productizing power solutions, and defining and driving PMIC validation requirements for Tegra and GPU reference platforms for all NVIDIA?s product markets. You will work with power architects in reference solution designs, and with product solution teams across business units, internal SW and HW teams to identify PMIC validation requirements and procedure, and optimize power sub-system performance for systems solutions for various target market segments. You will work with NVIDIA?s power partners to enable products that will optimize cost, performance and power of the overall platform. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Work with power architects in designing power reference designs used across NVIDIA products in smartphone, tablet, game consoles, clamshell, notebook and automotive - Define and drive PMIC validation requirements, enable scalable and automatic validation environment to ensure proper qualification coverage, and execute/review validation of reference power solutions - Participate in power architecture and roadmap for Tegra and GPU platforms across product lines to influence future product, SOC, GPU and SW requirements - Investigate, drive specification and evaluate new parts - Work with partners to enable optimized power delivery, and surrounding PMIC solutions such as chargers, fuel gauges, etc - Work with internal teams to drive reference platform validation and optimization - Work with the product team to review implementation and with application engineering team to develop collateral necessary for customer enablement - Identify system level architectural innovations for quality, power, performance and cost improvements - Provide documentation to define and support validations of power platform solutions MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: - BSEE/MSEE/CS or equivalent focused on power electronics - 3 years of experience in power systems development and/or validation - Proven experience actively involved one or more complete power solution platforms to production quality - Experience with multi-layer mix-signal high speed board design/validation requirements and best practices for reference platforms and products - Technically proficient in designing and validating high power density and cost sensitive DC/DC switching supplies and board-level PDN (Power Delivery Network) analysis and methodology - Skilled in Cadence Concept HDL Schematic Entry and Allegro PCB Layout - Strong debugging skill in board hardware with decent software knowledge to be self-efficient - Have through knowledge of lab equipment and tools such as logic analyzer and scopes - Extreme passion towards attention to details and precision on design with high focus on quality - Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with strong organizational abilities to oversee complex technical implementations that span multiple teams and geographic locations - Demonstrated track record of being a significant contributor at increasing levels of responsibility throughout your career - Strong interpersonal and technical leadership skills PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: - Working knowledge of common smart phone and tablet operating systems, platform IO technologies and be an expert in one or more of the following areas: USB, one or more MIPI standards, mobile communications standards - Working knowledge of PC platforms, G/DDR memory, peripheral interfaces (VGA, DVI, DisplayPort, HDMI, Audio), interface standards (PCI-Express, SVID, I2C, etc) - LABVIEW, MATLAB and/or PERL scripting for automation algorithms a certain plus. - Familiar with system thermal, mechanical and compliance requirements
