Quality Assurance Tester - Publishing (Temporary, 6-9 months)

From the moment we plugged in our first PC in October ’94, Monolith has been obsessed with combining stunning visuals, inventive narratives and cutting-edge technology to bring a distinctive gaming experience to both PC and console.  Starting with our first PC game, the terrifying, first-person action game Blood, straight through to our upcoming third-person action game Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, our passion for storytelling and dedication to creating unique gaming experiences continues to drive us to bring immersive gaming experiences to our fans. 

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is a next-generation, third-person action game set in Middle-earth that explores an original story of vengeance and redemption.  Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is in development for PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment systems, Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, the Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows PC.

The Quality Assurance Analyst is responsible for much of the day-to-day testing of the PC and console games being published by WB Games Inc.  Strong analytical and problem solving skills are a must for this position, as is a passion for video games and the video game industry.  Familiarity with the major console platforms as well as PC is a plus.

  • Directed Black Box Ad Hoc Testing
  • Undirected Black Box Ad Hoc Testing
  • Regression Testing
  • Platform Certification Testing
  • Bug/Issue Writing and Reporting
  • Functional Area Analysis
  • Documenting Issues (non-bug writing, not meant for DB entry)
  •  Attending Departmental and Project related meetings

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Work Experience:

  • 0-1+ years testing retail-quality games on Windows/Sony/Microsoft platforms, multiple platform experience or heavily Sony / Microsoft knowledge preferred. 

Education:
  • High school diploma or GED.

Knowledge/Skills:
  • Strong computer skills including familiarity with all current Microsoft operating systems, Microsoft Word (or equivalent), Microsoft Excel (or equivalent), and Microsoft Outlook (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of one or more bug tracking databases, including but not limited to: Bugzilla, JIRA, Test Track Pro, or equivalent.
  • Operational knowledge of one or more gaming platforms, including, but not limited to: Windows (Steam), Sony (PS4), and/or Microsoft (XBOX ONE)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate complex and/or detailed information clearly
  • Knowledge of video games across multiple platforms and genre’s
  • Entry level knowledge of basic testing concepts including: Ad hoc testing, Test Case usage, Bug writing, regression testing, halo testing, and Black box versus White box testing.
