The Visual and Parallel Computing Group Media Architecture Team is responsible for the definition of GPU acceleration of media functionality in consumer and corporate platforms including phones, tablets, PCs, and Servers. In this position, you will be responsible for conducting research, modeling, and creating hardware and software architecture definitions to support advanced content protection and Digital Rights Management technologies and their associated system architecture. The successful candidate will need to be able to define scalable architecture approaches to meet demands from ultra-low power mobile platforms up to high performance machines. The position is within the Media Architecture team.

Your responsibilities may include but not be limited to:

- Researching, modeling, and creating HW and SW IP definitions to support emerging content protection and Digital Rights' Management standards

- Supporting analysis of usage requirements and communicating results with key stakeholders and customers

- Analyzing system architecture requirements and bottlenecks in delivering to premium content usage models. Analyzing system architecture tradeoffs for other high priority usages

- Building models and projecting future performance and power consumption based on available proxies

- Making tradeoffs between quality, performance and cost, between fixed function and programmable implementations

- Defining solutions and preparing Hardware Architecture Specifications

- Interacting with silicon design teams, software kernel and/or driver development teams and validation teams in deploying new techniques

- Hands on operation in both pre and post Si environments to help in characterization and debug

- Responding to customer and/or client requests or events as they occur

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications:

You must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree with 9 years' experience, a Master's degree with 6 years' experience, or a PhD with 4 years' experience.  Degree should be in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline. 

 

Experience should be in the following areas:

- Expertise with security and encryption technologies such as AES, RSA, key infrastructure + key generation, digital certificates, etc.

- Familiarity and working knowledge of common Digital Rights Management approaches (e.g. Widevine, OMA, Fairplay, Windows Media, etc.)

- History in implementing HW robustness solutions for Low Power devices

- Experience with implementations to meet premium content requirements in various domains including decoding, display, and transmittal (e.g. HDCP, protected video paths, DTCP, etc.)

- Direct experience with video product definition, design, implementation in hardware or software

- Experience in the creation of analytical modeling tools to project performance characteristics of architecture in development

- Hardware architecture knowledge for key product segments (phone, PC, server)

- Familiarity with HW decode and display solutions to address robustness rules for playing back premium content

Preferred Qualifications:

- Direct experience in GPU architecture

- Direct experience with video algorithm research, development and prototyping

- Performing optimized implementation of video decoding and encoding for HEVC, VP9, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, VC-1, AVC, MVC, SVC and other new advanced codec techniques

- Knowledge and ability to implement Imaging Standards such as JPEG, JPEG2000 and the emerging still image profiles for advanced codecs (e.g. HEVC still image, etc)

- Knowledge in Video processing techniques and implementations

- Familiarity with visual quality test methodology and tools

- Implementing functional specifications and/or prototypes in high level modeling tools (potentially to facilitate High Level Synthesis approach)

- System C, C, C++, C#, Perl software development experience along with software prototyping tools such as MATLAB*

- Product development experience in HW description languages (e.g. Verilog, VHDL, CoFluent HLS, etc.)
