Digital Matte Artist (Temp) - Cinematics

Description

The Blizzard Cinematics team is seeking an experienced digital matte artist to help create beautiful environments for the unique Blizzard worlds on the cinematic screen.  We’re looking for an individual who is willing to create and imagine alongside a team of passionate artists.  If you’re interested in establishing some of the environments and landscapes for the epic cinematics, we’d love to have you join!

Responsibilities

  • Create both 2D and 3D content to help establish in part or full environments.
  • Utilize painting skills, photography, animation software, and digital modeling for environment and landscapes.
  • Work alongside the art director to assist in the exploration of lighting scenarios and environment look / development.
  • Able to assist with 2.5D shot creation.
  • Construct cycloramas and individual shot environment assets.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the feature film or commercial production environment
  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop and high-level photo real painting experience
  • Strong knowledge of Maya or 3dsMax, and Nuke
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling and rendering programs
  • Understanding of 2D compositing software
  • Mastery at camera projection, focal lengths, and perspective
  • Solid understanding of composition, color and light matching, and design
  • Able to artistically flex and diversify with painting styles and production designs
Portfolio Requirements
  • Provide a demo reel and description of your work per shot
  • Demo reel should display a firm artistic understanding of matte painting inclusive of both the 2D and 3D environments
    • Only online submissions (website, blog, online album, etc.) will be accepted
