Engineering Training Specialist

We’re seeking an experienced engineering training specialist to organize and execute immediate and long term employee development programs focused on our very talented engineers. The ideal applicant will be proficient in developing and presenting classes focusing on advanced technical content. 

The training specialist will develop individual and classroom training sessions, coordination of informational seminars and screenings, and creation and upkeep of web based tutorials and documentation. They’ll also work on new hire training and orientation, and so they’ll need to get up to speed on Blizzard tools, games and proprietary applications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop various discipline curriculum focused on technical and computer engineering subjects.
  • Develop and deliver classes as well as individual lesson plans.
  • Facilitate cross training between productions teams and departments.
  • Organize and conduct new hire training and orientation.
  • Develop training documentation.
  • Maintain enterprise-wide awareness of technical training needs and opportunities.
  • Partner with discipline leadership to tap into in-house knowledge base.
  • Monitor industry trends and innovations to inform training programs.
Technical Requirements
  • Strong C++ and object oriented background
  • Strong mathematics skills, including proficiency with trigonometry and linear algebra
  • Design and development tools for all disciplines
  • Custom user interface controls and tools
  • Communicate across teams about existing tools, sharing potential solutions
  • Internal tools; performance, stability, and operation
  • Pipeline structures and processes across diverse structures
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in formal training or instruction roles
  • Demonstrated experience creating lesson plans for engineering instruction
  • Extensive “stand up” classroom instruction experience
  • Demonstrated ability to define and develop onboarding and training programs
  • Experience with training documentation
  • Strong communication skills
  • Service-oriented attitude with an eye for efficiency and workflow
  • Understanding of game content pipeline and tools
  • Bachelor’s degree in math, computer science, computer engineering, related field or equivalent work experience
Pluses
  • Mathematics, computer science, computer engineering or related degree
  • Technical writing
  • Knowledge of web content publishing skills and best practices
  • Debugging skills
  • Experience with LUA, Perl, Python, or other interpreted languages
  • Experience using SQL databases -- database design and stored procedures
  • Game development background
