About the Position

The Renderman TD is responsible for creating, implementing, and supporting our shading, lighting and render pipeline together with the pipeline supervisor. Working closely with the shading and lighting department to write shaders, you will create an efficient renderman pipeline, examine shading network for issues and give advices to the artists. The ideal candidate must have previous experience in Renderman for TV or film productions and working knowledge on renderman shaders for REYE or RIS.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement rendering pipeline together with the pipeline supervisor
  • Work closely with shading and lighting artists to assess and improve our renders
  • Work closely with the pipeline team to identify and solve issues
  • Create and implement shaders and other shading-network nodes to optimize performance and creativity
  • Create and implement tools and workflows to improve the rendering pipeline
  • Be proactive, forward thinking and collaborate with others
  • Actively participate in production-related meetings by offering thoughts and ideas
  • Carry out duties in a professional and positive manner
  • Be a positive and creative force on the team

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in rendering pipeline for TV or film
  • Excellent understanding of texturing, shading, lighting and comp workflows
  • Excellent understanding in Renderman and/or Arnold is a must
  • Working experience in writing shaders using RLS, OSL and/or C++  is a must
  • Excellent understanding in Maya is a must
  • Good understanding of Shaders is preferred
  • Good understanding of Rib files, Python is preferred
  • Able to communicate in a professional and positive manner
  • Able to work alone and collaboratively, often with multiple tasks and under deadline pressure
  • Strong ability and passion for solving technical and creative issues
  • Experience implementing Renderman extensions, such as RSL plugins, procedural and RIF is preferred
  • Encourages feedback and new initiatives
  • Must be open to direction and able to embrace change
