FX Artist

Description

FuseFX has an opening in New York! We have opportunities at our studio for an experienced and talented FX Artist with a background in television and/or feature film VFX to join our creative team.

A FuseFX FX Artist is expected to work within Houdini to create a wide range of photo-realistic VFX, including oceans, fire, smoke, destruction, and more as part of a fast-moving team.

FuseFX is an Emmy-award winning visual effects and animation studio focused on producing photo-real digital effects for feature film, episodic television, and commercials.


Responsibilities: ?.

  • Required to balance multiple shows.
  • Build and maintain photo-real FX rigs of varying complexity, pushing the capabilities of FX at FuseFX.
  • Responsible for achieving high quality of work within the time constraints given.
  • Responsible for providing clear communication of work processes and progress between team members.
  • Thorough understanding of simulation techniques and technologies relating to effects.
  • Keep pipeline aware of any non-standard FX techniques in use, so Pipeline supervisor can enforce established techniques or aid the requested innovation.
  • Accountable for on time, on budget execution and delivery, as well as quality, of required FX technical direction work.
  • Keep up-to date on current industry technologies and techniques.


  Traits of a successful FuseFX FX Artist:

  • Must have 3 years experience in simulated effects
  • Excellent 3dsmax, Thinking Particles, PFlow/Tyflow, PhoenixFD effects skills 
  • Previous experience with PhoenixFD solvers, Storm solver, and/or Thinking Particle Flow solver.?
  • We are creating a wide range of VFX including oceans, splashes, destruction, and much more.
  • Thinking Particles, PhoenixFD, Pflow, Krakatoa, Tyflow, PFlow within 3ds Max environment
  • Good working knowledge of Vray and PhoenixFD preferred
  • Experience in creating effects such as fire, smoke, destruction, explosions, mist, dust, or similar
  • Thorough understanding of simulation techniques and technologies relating to effects
  • Understanding of physics, realistic motion, and assorted natural phenomena at different scales
  • You must be able to work well within a team to develop new tools for ongoing productions while also being able to solve shot-specific issues independently
  • Previous film industry and/or television experience is preferred
  • Coordinate with the Lighting Dept. to ensure smooth integration of FX elements
  • Work within the established pipeline and offer constructive suggestions to improve the process
  • Must work well in an environment of peers who are passionate about making great pictures
  • Must be able to perform under tight deadlines
