JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
FASA Studio is looking for a Character Animator who can bring strong acting and traditional animation skills and successfully adapt them to the next generation of real time video games. We seek a Character Animator with at least 4-6 years production experience, strong acting skills and the ability to work in a breadth of performance styles. All Character Animators report to the Lead Character Animator and is responsible for the helping the animation team deliver high quality and effective animation on time.
Responsibilities
1. Character Animation. Completes keyframe animations/moves as assigned by the Lead Character Animator that display a consistently high quality level of acting/performance while ensuring all technical integrities are also in line with requirements of the project. Is expected to deliver a body of animation for use in-game that conveys a character or characters with unique personalities, regardless of game engine limitations. All animation work is completed with a high level of continuity in terms of a specific character’s personality.
2. Innovates. Uses experience, imagination and core animation skills to create unique and innovative solutions to character animation problems. When confronted with a potential problem, works proactively to help resolve issues.
3. Self Starter. Completes work with a high level of production values with nominal supervision.
4. Team Communication. Pro-actively communicates status of assignments and any issues with Lead Animator, Art Director and Production Managers.
REQUIREMENTS:
Requirements
1. Reel. Character Animators are expected to present a reel that consistently demonstrates
· A strong artistic background with an numerous examples of human form (poses and motion studies)
· Layout skills and/or character design
· A very good understanding of classic animation principles and fundamentals (Weight, staging, timing, movement, anticipation, exaggeration, follow through, etc.,)
· Good storytelling and acting skills
2. Passionate. Uses own initiative to consistently improve animation, storytelling and/or acting skills. Is always working to raise his or her animation “craft”.
3. Experience. 4-6 years as a Character Animator in production on games, television or feature film work.
4. Takes Direction. Reel must demonstrate animator’s ability to work successfully within a broad variety of art directions.
5. Results driven. Seeks out problems and opportunities and then drives them to resolution. Measures success based on the results seen in game as they relate to the project’s goals.
6. Education. Animation or Fine Arts Degree. A Bachelors degree in Fine Arts, ideally in Character Animation or at least 4 years professional production experience in lieu of.
