The VFX Production Manager is responsible for managing everything required for the efficient running of the show, including the shot and asset production schedules, artists, and day-to-day tasks that ensure the show’s progress and deliveries remain in-line with contractually agreed deadlines.
Works with the VFX Producer to determine milestones, and set an efficient and effective production schedule for the show.
Creates a daily delivery schedule in support of the weekly delivery milestones set by the VFX Producer.
Forecasts resource requirements with the VFX Producer, Heads of Department, and Department Coordinators, to plan an effective and efficient approach to completing the show within contractually agreed deadlines.
Oversees the day-to-day operations of the show, managing production requirements from beginning to end of the project.
Is accountable for the accuracy of all relevant project information in Shotgun, ensuring that shot data, tasks, statuses, camera reports, notes and other critical information is meticulously maintained on a timely basis. PM does the initial shotgun setup. So all awarded shots are entered,
Prepares and circulates weekly department email reminders listing project-specific delivery priorities.
Schedules and facilitates creative launches with each department lead and the VFX Supervisor to review the scope of work, references, editorial cuts, set notes, etc.
Is accountable for hitting scheduled payment and key milestones, working with production departments to ensure the schedule is on track.
Identifies potential bottlenecks, and proposes solutions to the VFX Producer and Executive Producer. Adjusts the schedule appropriately based on the agreed-upon course of action.
Organizes scrums, dailies, and meetings.
Arranges client review cineSync sessions, circulating the playlist agenda and media links in advance.
Takes clear, concise and accurate notes in all dailies sessions. Promptly publishes all notes in Shotgun, ensuring teams have the required information as quickly as possible.
Ensures client notes are reviewed by the VFX Supervisor, and subsequently published in Shotgun as quickly as possible.
Oversees all client deliveries and postings. Prepares delivery submission sheets and email posting notifications.
Reports daily show progress to the VFX Producer.
Works with show Coordinators to ensure all administrative tasks are completed, and are accurate.
Plays a key role in the end of show post-mortem reviews, providing feedback on successes and identifies areas for improvement.
Promotes a positive, productive, and collaborative work environment.
Acts as an ambassador of Mavericks’ core values and studio culture.
