Faculty Position
2D Animation Lecturer, Department of Art &
Design, Central Michigan University.
Full-time, addition to the existing Animation faculty to
accommodate the growing needs of the Animation Program. This position begins
August 23, 2021 and may be renewed annually, based on satisfactory performance
and student enrollment. Benefits
(including full medical) and retirement contributions provided.
Summary of Duties
and Responsibilities:
Teach a range of courses in Animation including, but not limited
to:
Introduction to Animation, Animation Drawing I and II, Concept and
Character Design, Character Performance and overseeing independently developed student
work.
Required
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years professional experience (or equivalent)
in 2D Animation. Skills should include an extensive working knowledge of
tradigital animation in Toon Boom Harmony, with additional experience in visual
development and digital illustration. Ability to perform the essential functions
of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Animation. Professional animation studio
experience. Some college level teaching
experience as instructor of record.

The
Animation Program at Central Michigan University is housed in the Department of
Art & Design. While animation
courses have been taught since 2017, the Animation BFA program was officially
launched in the fall of 2019 and graduated its first senior class in the spring
of 2020. We are a growing program that offers a variety of animation classes
from 3D computer courses, to storyboarding, 2D tradigital, and traditional
& experimental media.
