Description:
The
School of Visual Arts and Design (SVAD) at the University of Central Florida
(UCF) invites applicants for a nine-month, non-tenure earning instructor or lecturer
position in emerging media. The anticipated start date is August 8th, 2022.
SVAD seeks a candidate with a balance of
technical and theoretical foundations. The successful candidate will play an
important role in the SVAD Emerging Media BFA which includes the following tracks:
character animation, experimental animation, and graphic design. Candidates
should demonstrate a strong understanding of the principles and elements of design
as applied to animation and visual storytelling. Core areas will include 2D/3D
animation, motion graphics, and a strong understanding of the moving image. The
principal duties of this position include teaching a four-course load per
semester and service at the University of Central Florida Orlando main campus.
Minimum Qualifications:
A non-terminal master's degree (for
instructor) or a terminal degree (for lecturer) in an appropriate discipline
from an accredited institution by start of appointment. Appropriate disciplines
include digital art, film, animation, the fine arts, or media-related
discipline.
Candidates must have at least one-year
previous teaching experience in 2D and 3D animation at an accredited
institution of higher education.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference is given to candidates with at
least one year of relevant professional industry production experience. Additionally,
teaching experience in one or more of the following software is helpful: Toon
Boom Harmony, Autodesk Maya, Adobe Creative Cloud (Adobe Animate and/or After
Effects).
A strong understanding of traditional and
digital 2D/3D animation and the production pipeline is encouraged. In addition,
working knowledge of production development and
design, storytelling, and understanding of foley and music to enhance visual
language would be preferred.
