On-Set Playback Specialist

Role Summary

The On-Set Playback Specialist will be responsible for specifying and building innovative tools to support Sphere monitoring and playback locally on set. They will work directly with the Camera Technical Lead and Imaging Supervisor to plan the on-set footprint and coordinate hard-wired and wireless signals between MSG camera systems, arrays, and local monitoring. This role will also be responsible for live stitching multiple camera inputs as well as managing overlays and preserving local synchronized proxies of all content.

Specific Functions/Activities Summary

  • Support Capture department photography during tests and field deployments as a video playback operator, recording and playing back live-action imaging
  • Specifying monitors and systems for reviewing and displaying content on set
  • Preparing ruggedized systems for remote field work and identify new and novel products for greater efficiency
  • Service, troubleshoot and maintain owned equipment
  • Document the procedures, workflow, and configuration for all on-set playback systems
  • Manage multiple stitched camera playback solutions across a multi-unit deployment
  • Manage a library of custom reticles and overlays to video feeds
  • Workflow optimization
  • Serve broader capture system interests using on-set playback hardware and related processes for full resolution Sphere capture

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of on-set playback experience on location productions (as VTR, video assist, live broadcast, streaming, on-set editorial)
  • Thorough understanding of film/ video production, digital workflows, cinematography, and/or post production environment 
  • Adaptable/flexible in high-stress environments
  • Experience real-time stitching software (Voysys, etc.)
  • Extensive knowledge of wireless, wired, and optical video signals
  • Proficient with Qtake and related similar Video Assist software
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs
