CAD Engineer

Role Summary

The CAD Engineer role will join the MSG Sphere team in Burbank, California where we are developing technologies and methodologies for our Sphere Studios & MSG Sphere Venues. The role will be responsible for producing and developing design solutions for the team using computer-aided design software such as AutoCAD and Solidworks.

Specific Functions/Activities Summary

• Produce and modify all types of computer drafting and imaging using industry software
• Develop a variety of detail drawing solutions through the translation of concepts, technical specifications, and other design discipline plans
• Create and review working drawings for bids packages
• Create a standardized professional design package for all discipline specific design documentation and drawings
• Maintain up to date records of design changes
• Collaborate with other team members to ensure the timely fulfillment of design requirements
• Work with vendors to analyze and validate solutions as needed
• Provide information and guidance as projects progress

• Degree in engineering or equivalent work experience in live entertainment
• Experience preferred working in staging, live events, and/ or live entertainment
• Working knowledge of current technology for a variety of theatrical design (audio, video, broadcast, effects, lighting, and control systems, scenery and facilities construction methodology) as applied to live shows and theatrical, industrial, concert, and touring
• Proficiency in 3D and 2D design software
• Able to produce detailed drawings, technical reports, documents
• Detail orientated
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to bring a creative approach for new ideas
• Self-motivated in combination with the ability to collaborate with a team
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to remain flexible and calm in high-pressure situations
