QC Supervisor

Who are we hiring?

MSG is looking for a QC Supervisor to join a groundbreaking post-production department based in Los Angeles. This role is responsible for the development and daily oversight of a QC department that will evaluate all content that is being created and delivered from third party vendors to the Studio, and from the Studio to our Venues. This role requires an extremely high level of attention to detail and understanding of Sphere QC standards and processes. Candidates must display consistent technical judgement and have a displayed history of managing teams of QC operators. In this role, the ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert to Editorial, Creative, and Production for analyzing the quality of media at a highly detailed level. This role will also act as key stakeholder in the criteria, selection, implementation, commissioning and training of a to be determined QC solution.

What will you do?

  • Assist on building out a world class QC department that will be responsible for a rigorous and thorough QC of all Sphere content.
  • Plan, document and execute Sphere specific QC processes.
  • Develop key Sphere QC criteria’s and align with QC processes
  • Must be able to perform the role of a QC operator at a high level of proficiency.
  • Work with production technology teams to design and approve QC technology and workflow changes.
  • Pivot between duties as assigned or requested.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Exceptional attention to detail is mandatory.
  • Experience building or expanding QC bays is highly desired.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a QC Operator with an additional three years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong fundamentals in QC standards and practices with a QC skillset that includes but is not limited to: frame rate conversion errors, VFX issues, stitching issues, chromatic aberrations, timecode drift/sync issues, metadata validations and automated QC report validations.
  • Experience working with departments spread over multiple locations and interfacing with VFX, audio, color, and 3rd party vendors.
  • Experience with industry-standard asset management, QC and task tracking software
  • Working knowledge with post-production processes and workflows including ingest, editing, visual effects, motion graphics, audio, and color.
  • Knowledge of various camera formats, production and post-production codecs, technical specifications and metadata systems.
  • Proven track record managing multiple fast-paced projects in a large organization.
  • Excellent problem solving, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Must be a team player and work well under tight deadlines.

 

SUPERVISION:

  • The QC Supervisor will report to the Director Editorial, Integration, I/O & QC, working closely with post-production management, post supervisors, and creative development teams.
  • The role requires a self-directed “production-minded” work ethic helping to maintain the high level of quality associated with the MSG Sphere.
  • As the team grows there will be expansion and direct reports to manage the MSG Sphere QC process and pipeline.
