Game Security Engineer

Intrepid Studios’ Ashes of Creation team is looking for a highly motivated and talented Game Security Engineer to join us, here in beautiful southern California. This role will report to the Lead Engineer and support our engineering team by implementing updates and new key features on Ashes of Creation to ensure that we deliver great gameplay and protection from hacking / abuse, that only Intrepid can provide! This is a great opportunity to unleash your creativity and partner with talented game veterans to craft a unique MMORPG that helps bring people together.

What you will accomplish:

• Collaborate with artists and engineers to create compelling, equitable gameplay experience while maintaining consistent style through the game.
• Partner with the engineering and design teams to help drive the evolution of cheat and exploit detection and mitigation.
• Develop gameplay systems in a Client/Server Architecture.
• Efficiently self-manage to balance working independently and with other developers
• Create and document complex systems in a clear manner for others to rely on as a reference and potentially expand upon.
• Rapidly iterate on game systems with the goal of creating fun and enticing gameplay, while protecting the integrity of the game experience.

What you bring to the team:

• A minimum of 5+ years of experience working with online games and/or other game-related technologies
• Comprehensive understanding of cheat detection, reporting, and mitigation in online games
• Experience developing in Unreal Engine with security best practices 
• Solid knowledge base of MMORPG systems and concepts
• Self-motivation, good communicator that enjoys collaboration with other game developers
• Ability to articulate (both in written and verbal methods) complex processes in a clear manner
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Math related field.

Extra Awesome:

• Master’s degree in a Computer Science, Engineering, Math or related field
• Fluent in modern development practices, including agile coding and use of revision control / management systems
• Familiarity with AWS and Steam integration
• Familiarity with EasyAntiCheat, BattleEye, or other industry game security standards
• Experience in AAA game development
• A Passion for making and playing MMO games
• Familiarity with Ashes of Creation
