Senior Artist Support Engineer

Who are we hiring?
The Sr. Artist Support Engineer will work closely with Studio Technology team and Production teams reporting into the Director Studio Infrastructure. The Sr. Artist Support Engineer will be responsible for hands-on support of Artist workstations and related technologies. As a Sr. Artist Support Engineer, you will be working with a vast and complex array of technologies. The ideal person for this position has knowledge of/experience supporting relevant software applications such as Nuke, Resolve, Maya, RV, Houdini, Deadline, Mistika, as well as Adobe Creative Suite. They will troubleshoot performance issues and maintain the licensing, software and plugins. The Sr. Artist Support Engineer must work towards maintaining a stable environment in support of all infrastructure, render and VFX functions.

What will you do?

• Provide 2nd and 3rd level technical support, including assisting in the planning and implementation of additions, deletions, and major modifications to supporting the local infrastructure
• Knowledge of content creation applications (Nuke, Resolve, Maya, RV, Houdini, Deadline, Mistika, Cinema 4D)
• Knowledge of the latest Adobe applications, including Premiere and After Effects
• Render farm management
• Coordinate and participate in sandbox testing of new applications
• Follow IT procedures as established by corporate IT while balancing creative workflow needs
• Occasional requirement to perform after hours and/or weekend support
• Ensure that asset management, licensing, and other company policies are being adhered to
• The Sr. Artist Support Engineer will provide technical support in regard to implementation, and integration of applications in addition to hardware and connectivity issues. He/She will help in designing and implementing analytical research, design development, and other assignments as required to minimize downtime and Artist impact.
• Stay abreast of new and changing technologies
• Participate in a 24x7 call-out rotation


What do you need to succeed?

• Previous experience in either support or mid-level system engineering
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Expert knowledge of Linux, Windows and OSX Operating Systems
• The ability to work independently, including some self-study and an eye on the clock- it's a deadline-driven environment
• MAC/PC maintenance and software installation
• Film/VFX Industry experience & relevant applications (listed above) strongly preferred
• Be well versed with application usage deployment technologies
• Must be resourceful and possess the ability and willingness to take initiative
• At least 3-5 years of Studio/Creative complex system support experience – applicant must be “hands on keyboard” with the ability to technically troubleshoot application, network and compute related issues
• Experience supporting Studio Artists in a complex environment – has integration experience working with event correlation platforms and ticketing systems such as ServiceNow
• 3-5 years of working with enterprise systems platforms such as compute, storage, data centers and Render Farms
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or computer engineering is preferred or equivalent experience
• Experience with advanced server/storage operations utilizing various product platforms such as virtualization, VFX platforms, Render and general infrastructure

 

SUPERVISION:

• Role is an individual contributor but may mentor team members and lead Operational initiatives


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:

• Candidate selected may have to travel several times throughout the year to other business locations
• On-Call rotation with other team members
