Vice President, Studio Media Strategy and Operations



Position Overview
The Vice President of Studio Media Strategy and Operations will be responsible for developing and leading the Studio’s migration from physical to digital file-based media workflows, enabling and overseeing reliable, best-in-class Studio media library operations, and continuously identifying and implementing media operational improvements.

Leading Migration from Physical to Digital Media
• Develop strategy for Studio media workflows, systems, organization, and investments that align with the Studio’s digital workflow roadmap
• Design, maintain, and continually enhance solution architecture to achieve Studio’s digital workflow vision
• Define and implement short term stop gap measures to address immediate MAM challenges
• Lead assessment of potential solutions for digital file-based media asset management including media format specifications, metadata standards, system requirements, total cost of ownership, benefit analysis, and in source / outsource analysis
• Direct Studio IT and media operations team resources as needed to deliver required MAM tools and solution architecture
• Build consensus among various MAM stakeholders, including Studio Post Production, Technical Servicing, Distribution, Studio IT, and Studio New Technology

Enabling and Overseeing Reliable Best-In-Class Studio Media Library Operations
• Oversee media operations for both digital file-based and physical library
• Create and implement policies for standardized nomenclature, data hierarchies, asset acceptance, asset audit, asset retention, and asset security
• Define, implement and maintain best practices for physical and digital storage including climate control, data migration and long-term archive
• Develop annual Studio media library operations strategic plans and operating budget
• Integrate asset management and metadata capture into Studio workflows including post production, distribution, and archiving
• Ensure the security of the Studio’s physical and digital media assets across the asset lifecycle leveraging security policies, procedures, and tools
• Provide coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations to media operations team

Identifying and Implementing Media Operational Improvements
• Maintain pricing, capability, and process performance metrics to continually assess the Studio’s capabilities against competitive offerings and identify improvement opportunities
• Establish and implement strategies to improve operating performance and drive down costs including technology enhancements, process improvements, and organizational optimization
• Build skills within media operations team to improve organization performance

Education Requirements Experience Requirements
• MBA or advanced technical degree
• Engineering or other Technology oriented BS preferred • 10 years experience in professional capacity in related areas of expertise (e.g., MAM, Studio library services operations, post production, knowledge management, data management)
• Experience working in large organizations, managing different stakeholder and/or customer group interests
• Up-to-date technical knowledge in media asset management solutions and technologies
• Deep studio post production and distribution media workflow knowledge
• Proven managerial success for a strategic, service operation
• Six sigma or other process monitoring, measuring, and improvement methodology
• Experience in establishing and managing outsourced relationships
• Experience with Software Development Lifecycle (plan, analysis, design, build, test, deployment)
• Knowledge of Services Oriented Architecture
