JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing a variety of hardware level systems to support a cross platform codebase. Working directly with the operating systems of the major home consoles and pc, useful functionality will be exposed in a platform neutral manner.
Features such as multithreading, memory allocation, file access, object creation and deletion, etc. will need to be supported.
• Implement practical and timely solutions to problems that meet the needs of the rest of the programming team, as directed by the project technical lead.
• Work with other coders to ensure that their modules are making the most of the hardware's capabilities.
• Maintain, refactor, and improve existing solutions.
• Work as a key part of an agile development team, taking responsibility for organising and planning your own work.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Passionate about playing and making games.
• Excellent C/C++ programming skills.
• Very strong problem solving and debugging skills.
• At least 1 project completed on major home consoles or PC.
• A sound knowledge of compiler issues, development environments, and debugging processes across multiple platforms.
• An understanding of the issues involved in writing safe multithreaded code.
• An understanding of code performance issues and optimisation.
• Familiarity with the console manufacturers’ libraries and SDKs.
• Ability to plan your work and then deliver on time.
• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
