Camera Layout Department Assistant Technical Direc

The Layout Assistant Technical Director's role is to ensure a smoothly running environment for the artists of the Camera Layout Department -- creation and maintenance of Zeno, Maya, and UNIX shell scripts under the guidance of the Layout and Tech Team leadership.

* Responsible for the resources necessary for the department. Coordinates with the Department and Tech Team leadership to determine priorities and requirements. Duties include but are not limited to the following:

- Design and author tools for the Camera Layout group primarily for tracking, solving, stereoscopy, modeling from photographs, workflow improvements, Zeno and MEL scripts, and overlap with other departments.
- Support and maintain new and existing Camera Layout scripts, whether debugging problems or adding new features.
- Ensure quality, compatibility, and consistency of imported and exported complex data from and to clients and other artist disciplines.
- Create and maintain web documentation for the department for everyday workflow, on-location field guides, reference photography, 3D scanning, and camera and lens test procedures.
- Maintain database of cameras and lenses.
- Troubleshoot and track down problems within and related to the department.
- Stay abreast of changing show-specific scripts and procedures.

* Work with other discipline ATDs, especially Animation, Creature Dev, Compositing, and Digimatte.
* Efficiently work with other departments to solve problems as data exchange needs evolve.
* Quickly and efficiently perform all tasks as directed by the Supervisor, assisting the department with scripts/software, resource updates, departmental procedures, and so on, to ensure efficiency.
* Facilitate integration of new software, hardware and procedures into the department's pipeline.
* Responsible for post-show cataloging and show clean-up.
* Work under the direction of the Department and Show supervisors to develop skills in all aspects of the Camera Layout Department including tracking, 2D and 3D solving, lens calibration, stereoscopy, photo modeling, and importing and exporting of complex data.
* Demonstrates ability to be proactive and anticipating potential problems before they occur and follows through on every task assigned.
* Demonstrates ability to be proactive about keeping everyone in the loop and up-to-date on the status of all tasks.
* Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks and manage time well, and gives everyone with accurate time estimates on task completion.
* Demonstrates ability to listen well to directions and ask questions to confirm that directions are clearly understood
* Demonstrates ability to be an asset to the department, embracing all tasks with competency, energy and enthusiasm.
