ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF FILMMAKING AND INSTRUCTIONAL COORDINATOR

Woodbury University’s School of Media, Culture & Design invites applications for a full-time Instructional Coordinator and professor in the newly developing department of Film Making beginning Fall 2011. This is a non-tenure track position with faculty rank and salary commensurate with teaching and professional experience and degrees held. The department values faculty who combine excellent teaching with active scholarship and commitment to service. Finalists must successfully complete a teaching/research demonstration and on-campus interview.

Responsibilities: Instructional Coordinator (IC) duties include development and piloting of curriculum and services under a five-year Title V grant that may be retained beyond the life of the grant. The IC will work with the Activities Director and Project Manager to develop the new program within grant guidelines.

As Instructional Coordinator, the successful candidate will (1) demonstrate ability to write curriculum and syllabi, and be responsible for student learning outcomes, grading rubrics and assessment rubrics for courses in film production, film business, and film aesthetics at the undergraduate level; (2) confirm that created materials meet accreditation standards for WASC and NASAD; (3) have extensive experience in the feature film business; and (4) have extensive contacts within the film industry. A normal course load is four courses per semester; however, release time will be provided for the Instructional Coordinator’s duties.
