Senior Software Engineer, Console

Turbine is looking for a senior level engineer to assume a key role in the development of Turbine's future, evolving both technology and entertainment experiences from our current, multi-award winning technology foundation into the next generation of MMO gaming. As a senior member of the game technology team, you will act as an expert in several areas of engineering, from graphics to performance optimization, systems architecture, file systems design and writing libraries for user input devices. The successful candidate will be equally capable of designing and writing code for low level systems, tools, and game systems which extend the functionality of the Turbine engine. Candidates must be comfortable working in a professional work-environment and be capable of working closely (and calmly) with peers and managers in high pressure situations. The candidate should possess strong communication skills and be able to discuss technical issues with non-technical people such as artists and designers.

The candidate should demonstrate their drive, motivation, and dedication to computer games and game technology. The ideal candidate will be a dedicated gamer and be able to critically analyze the game play and technology of state-of-the-art video games.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Own several major deliverables in the effort of updating Turbine’s MMOG engine and tools to support consoles.
• Debug and fix engine level bugs arising during product development and testing.
• Lead technical design discussions on own systems.
• Drive performance optimizations for console game client.
• Analyzes requirements for, designs, and implements modular systems as requested.
• Provide reliable and accurate time estimates for tasks.
• Document systems thoroughly, both in terms of design and implementation.
• Maintain significant familiarity within engineering domain.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the manager.
