Deploy Engineer

Description

We're looking for a Deploy Engineer to join our team. We're a young and growing company building software for the visual effects, feature animation, and video game industries.

We have one main product called Shotgun. It is a flexible web-based "production tracking and collaboration" application. It is designed for everyone working in the studio across many roles and needs. It has a customizable database, a flexible web interface, and an open API. We provide defaults and tools, and our clients can build and evolve their own applications on top of this framework. We are actively developing additional products we’ll be announcing soon.

Shotgun is a web-based Software as a Service (SaaS). We host roughly 350 client sites in the cloud and have approximately 40 clients with Shotgun installed in their local infrastructure. You will be responsible to maintain and upgrade these sites, this includes major releases (every 8 weeks), weekly patch releases for all hosted clients, on demand upgrades for locally installed clients, and emergency hot patches as needed. We have some automation tools in place but we are looking for someone who can extend these tools and significantly improve this library. You will also be responsible for supporting our locally installed application at the operating system level. There is plenty of room for growth in this position.

About you

This is what we are looking for:
*Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems, CentOS preferred
*Strong knowledge of Ruby and Python languages
*Fair knowledge of Mac and Windows operating systems
*Independent, strong problem solving and communication skills
*Flexible working hours

Bonus points for:
*Capistrano, Rails experience
*PostgreSQL experience
*IT instrumentation and automation (knowledge of Puppet is an extra bonus!)
*Linux (Redhat/CentOS) RPM creation and management
*Good understanding of overall security methodology as it pertains to the job responsibilities
*Experience with working on a distributed team
