Lighting TD

Description

The Lighting TD shall serve an integral technical role on the lighting team providing technical support for the team troubleshooting complex lighting, rendering & compositing issues; pipeline tool development; and production shot lighting to meet and exceed the creative goals of production.

This role requires technical prowess as well as a keen artistic eye. The ideal candidate should possess an expert understanding of and relevant production experience lighting, shading and rendering within a Maya/Mental Ray environment. The candidate should be experienced and comfortable with complex shading networks, multiple pass rendering setups, scripting, pipeline issues, and node based compositing systems. Additionally, the candidate should possess excellent aesthetic judgement and a good understanding of cinematic lighting principles and color theory.

They should be able to effectively and proactively communicate issues with colleagues, take direction well and be calm under pressure. The successful candidate should possess strong problem solving skills and the ability to collaboratively develop solutions.

Responsibilities:

·         Lights & Renders shots and composites the resultant character and environment renders through to final output to satisfy the
creative vision and technical requirements of the production.

·         Works with the VFX Supervisor & Lighting Supervisor to design and implement efficient lighting solutions from shading through rendering and final composite.

·         Participates in Look Development to help define and troubleshoot key shading and lighting setups.

·         Works with Production Technology to ensure optimal setup and utilization of render farm.

·         Works with Production to implement render policies.
