Technical Artist

Lucid Global is seeking an experienced, motivated, and knowledgeable Technical Artist for our expanding studio in beautiful Sarasota, FL.  This role works closely with the Technical Director, Artists, and programmers on art assets as well as tracking & and assisting in the planning of our studio’s innovative real time and pre-rendered projects in a highly productive manner. The Technical Artist will work closely with our team of talented CG Artists on the design, creation execution of real time and pre-rendered assets, and to increase the productivity of our studio pipeline.

Lucid is a stable and expanding global company focused primarily on the burgeoning industries of Health and Healthcare, and we are using the latest CG and video gaming technology, as well as AAA level art development, to revolutionize the practice of medicine with our Living Medical Environments, Holographics, and other technologies. Lucid Global is an innovator and often operates on the threshold of what is possible with existing techniques and technology. That is the challenge and reward of the work we do. Much of the work is on mobile platforms such as the iPad and android, so mobile games production experience is a plus.

The ideal candidate:

·         provides direction and identifies bottlenecks to ensure ease of workflow for the efficient creation and execution of specific projects

·         acts as an advocate for the artists providing the link between art and Technical Department

·         has a great handle on studio asset management, and technology (such as Perforce)

·         will work on the edge of innovation in the 3D stereo, real-time 3D, as well as the convergence of pre-rendered and real time technology

·         works seamlessly with the development  team and our 3D art team members: builds and maintains aspects of the art pipeline, tools and implements key development procedures

·         will be responsible for scheduling of tasks including tracking dependencies, managing change, and ensuring quality, compliant and on time deliveries using Sharepoint.

·         must stay immersed in the latest technology and techniques making recommendations and ensuring that designers have the tools and support necessary to best achieve our technical and artistic objectives

·         has fluency in Unity 3D or other gaming engines that may apply

·         has worked with the Microsoft Kinect and other innovative tracking and sensor technology.

·         will be responsible for achieving overall technical art objectives and assist in the hiring decisions regarding the acquisition of additional talent

·         must enjoy and excel at mentoring, and directing young talented artists who join our team from nearby Ringling College of Art + Design
