Studio Motion Graphics Artist

SUMMARY

A skilled Animator, 3D modeler and animator with a diverse range of experience including; modeling, texturing, lighting, and animating (characters, inanimate objects, and particles). A solid understanding of the principles of lighting and motion as well as classic animation principles (e.g., squash, stretch, anticipation, etc) is required. The 3D artist must be well versed in tools such as Cinema 4D, 3DS Max, etc. The ideal candidate is a talented artist, who contributes to and advances the aesthetic of the final work, while collaborating well with peers and other creative team members. As the artist progresses from associate through senior level, it is expected that they will show commensurate mastery of these skills and abilities.

Required Skills:

·         Selected candidate should have at least 2 years work experience in film/broadcast quality motion graphics.

·         Possess a demo reel, which demonstrates an understanding of excellent sense of motion, timing, animation, and the ability to create and render aesthetically pleasing scenes in a range of styles.

·         Demonstrate strong technical abilities in a majority of the following areas: 3D modeling, lighting, rendering, texturing, and editing. In short, an animator capable of wearing many hats.

·         Ability to create and animate high-quality 2D/3D graphics for multiple platforms and projects.

·         Advanced abilities in After Effects, Cinema 4D (or similar 3D package), Photoshop and Adobe Creative Suite.

·         Understanding of 3d production pipelines and rendering practices.

 

Responsibilities:

·         Primarily responsible for creating 3D assets, still image compositions, and basic video/animation editing. Additional multimedia support such as advanced image retouching, storyboarding, & basic sound editing may also be required.

·         Responsible for meeting with producer and art/creative director at project initiation to review storyboards, artistic direction, timing and final deliverables.

·         Assists producer in determining timing and deliverables based upon creative criteria.

·         Must be able to accurately anticipate and articulate what is creatively possible for a given project¹s parameters.

·         Capable of producing highly creative work in a deadline oriented environment within constraints.

·         Organized team player with great communication skills; always open to feedback.

·         Self-motivated, optimistic, creative problem solver with solid time management skills.

 Pluses:

·         Secondary skills in a related area such as 2D animation or assembling realistic image comps

·         The ability to effectively sketch out concepts and ideas for storyboards or visualizing scenes

·         Experience in character and 2d animation
