Senior Quality Assurance Tester - Publishing (Temporary, 6-9 months)

From the moment we plugged in our first PC in October ’94, Monolith has been obsessed with combining stunning visuals, inventive narratives and cutting-edge technology to bring a distinctive gaming experience to both PC and console.  Starting with our first PC game, the terrifying, first-person action game Blood, straight through to our upcoming third-person action game Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, our passion for storytelling and dedication to creating unique gaming experiences continues to drive us to bring immersive gaming experiences to our fans. 

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is a next-generation, third-person action game set in Middle-earth that explores an original story of vengeance and redemption.  Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is in development for PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment systems, Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, the Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows PC.

The Senior Quality Assurance (QA) is responsible for providing direction and leadership. In addition to having some QA Lead responsibilities of their own, Senior QA Lead, acts as a mentor and coach for the QA team, and as a liaison between production and the quality assurance department.  The Senior QA Lead leverages their experience to help define and enforce quality assurance policies and procedures, and to ensure that all QA projects adopt the best, correct, methodologies.  To this end, the Senior QA Lead will ensure that bugs are being entered effectively, efficiently, and in quality.

  • Responsible for all duties required on supporting a QA Lead 
  • Provide direction and leadership for identification, implementation and support of black/gray/white box testing efforts.
  •  Define requirements and make recommendations for testing methodologies, tools, utilities, processes and procedures for the QA department.
  •  Perform software quality tasks requiring planning , scheduling, testing, and reporting to ensure our games meet requirements and approved design specifications that are in line with the needs and direction of the company
  •  Responsible for the technical and process leadership and mentoring of Quality Assurance staff
  •  Supporting the team when the lead becomes unavailable.  
  •  Documents and reports on global issues affecting all titles being worked on in the QA queue.
  • Coordinate testing resource allocations across multiple projects as directed by QA Manager
  • Implements and enforces testing policies, procedures and standards across all projects in the QA work queue.
  •  Ensuring clear communication between multiple different groups.
  •  Support running Scrum Meetings.
  • Alignment between development QA and Publishing QA.
  • Facilitates communication between QA and production, QA and development, within the QA department itself, and with external QA partners. 
  • Performs other tasks at the discretion for the Quality Lead and Manager.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of two years of video game testing experience.
Education:
  • High school diploma or GED.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Proven mastery of QA processes, policies, and procedures
  • Solid understanding of current video game platforms, and their technical requirements
  • Experience as QA Lead on a project and overseeing other QA Leads a plus
  • Excellent PC skills, including ability to use Microsoft Office products, bug tracking software, and SDK/Debug tools from platform manufacturers.  Familiarity with 3rd party and internal debug and source control software is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrable ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  •  Understanding of various development techniques and their impact on QA methodologie
  • Strong knowledge of video game industry and of how video games are made from conception to release.
  • Passionate for Video Games is a must.
