System/Network Technician

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is a next-generation, third-person action game set in Middle-earth that explores an original story of vengeance and redemption. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is in development for PlayStation®4, Xbox One, and Windows PC. Warner Bros. Games Inc. seeks a System/Network Technician for the WBG Monolith IT department. Provides technical support to internal production studios for software and hardware issues. Fulfills service requests such as system hardware and software upgrades to facilitate production. Assists in projects to improve or change infrastructure to meet milestones and/or allow for more efficient software development. Assists in day-to-day maintenance and operation of the network, server and PBX systems that provide the production infrastructure.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responds to incidents and requests for assistance with “off the shelf” and proprietary development software, hardware, console development hardware, peripherals, outages, etc.

  • Proactively suggests and/or fulfills service requests for upgrades to hardware, software, and changes to infrastructure to better accommodate development needs, including building custom hardware systems and images.

  • Participates in projects requested by development teams or internally to facilitate improvements to production processes and/or infrastructure.

  • Manages hardware and software inventory for PCs and console development systems through interaction with hardware and software management systems.

  • Performs basic administration tasks such as user account provisioning/deprovisioning, setup and decommissioning of telephones, printers, peripherals, hardware recovery and recycling.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 2-year degree or High School Diploma and equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum two years’ experience supporting/installing end-user hardware and software in a development environment, preferably with networked Windows Server and Active Directory infrastructure.

  • Experience using and/or supporting consumer audio/video equipment and game console system setup and operation.

  • Experience building and troubleshooting custom PC hardware configurations.

  • Experience using Sysprep and building/deploying custom images in a Windows environment using Microsoft Deployment or other imaging software (Acronis, Windows Deployment, SCCM etc.).

  • Experience operating within Service Level Agreements and using ticketing request systems to track status of requests and work completed.

  • Experience supporting most of the following technologies and applications in a software development environment: •Windows XP, Vista, Windows7 (32- and 64-bit versions). •Autodesk Maya, 3DS Max, Adobe CS3/4 and other art/video packages. •Perforce or other source control software. •Microsoft Office 2007-2013. •Windows Server 2003, 2008 including user account and Exchange mailbox administration. •Ethernet cabling and networking. •Phone PBX system move/add/changes/punchdowns.

  • Excellent time management and multitasking skill.

  • Fine attention to detail and quality of work.

  • Expert at PC hardware and software troubleshooting.

  • Solid problem solving and root cause analysis skill.

  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities.

  • Proven ability to quickly learn new systems/technologies.

  • Familiarity with consumer audio/video system setup and operation.

  • Ability to lift/move PC hardware and console development equipment.

  • Capable of using hand tools to perform basic mechanical tasks.
