Senior Texture Painter (Creatures)

SENIOR TEXTURE PAINTER (CREATURE/CHARACTER) – Image Engine, Vancouver, BC
Contract: starting early September, 2014

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL DO:
  • Create and maintain photo-realistic textures
  • Work within the defined pipeline
  • Produce the highest quaility work possible within a given amount of time
  • Mentor and help train Jr modelers
  • Work closely with the other departments in the Asset team
  • Promote interdepartmental collaboration
  • Help establish suitable working techniques with other members of the texture team
  • Participate in meetings and asset reviews
  • Report to Asset Supervisor/Texture lead

THIS IS WHAT WE REQUIRE:

  • 4+ years progressive experience creating high quality textures for visual effects for film
  • Thorough understanding of traditional art skills (colour, proportion, scale, composition, design)
  • Strong understanding of how texture maps work in a lighting/shading paradigm
  • Proficiency in Mari, Photoshop, UVlayout, and Maya
  • Ability to learn quickly and assimilate new information
  • Attention to detail required
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse collection of individuals
  • Ability to balance quick turnaround with achieving a high degree of aesthetic quality
  • Able to take direction positively, working well within a team, and thriving under pressure of tight production deadlines
  • Must possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Look development experience and proficiency in LINUX/UNIX desirable
