Cinematics Editor (Temp)

Description

The pre-render Cinematics team is focused on creating industry-leading, feature film-quality animated shorts and is looking for a dedicated temp  picture editor. This person must have strong editorial experience, outstanding communication skills, and be highly organized.  He / She must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple projects with tight deadlines, while acting as a calming influence to help the team stay on target.

This person will be responsible for performing the functions of a narrative animation editor, working with storyboards, previz footage, animation, and final frames—all with a high degree of responsibility. This person will be assembling storyboards, temp music, temp dialogue, and temp SFX, as well as editing music to create compelling animatics that effectively communicate the directors’ vision to the game teams. This editor will work in tandem with and be tasked by the lead cinematics editor, preparing edits for review with directors and other stake holders.

He / she must be able to operate with varying degrees of supervision, taking ownership when needed while remaining flexible to collaboration and iteration. They must also be able to update and organize footage, generate reviewable files, and handle deliveries if needed, all while maintaining strong communication with the rest of the cinematics editorial team.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years’ professional editorial experience in a Film, Animation, Narrative Television, or Videogame Cinematics environment
  • Experience with Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Good sense of timing, pacing, and controlling story flow through editing
  • Advanced video compression techniques and associated software packages
  • Experience interfacing with other departments (e.g. sound, storyboard, animation, etc.)
  • Knowledge of current industry-standard post-production workflows and organization
  • Able to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies and different work methodologies
  • Highly self-motivated with excellent communication skills
  • Able to work well under tight deadlines and quick project turnover
  • Able to work closely with multiple directors, producers, the lead cinematics editor and cinematics assistant editor, and other team members
  • Able to troubleshoot and solve problems independently
Pluses
  • Experience with cutting marketing-related pieces (sizzle reels, commercials, promos, behind-the-scenes, etc.)
  • Knowledge of and passion for Blizzard’s game worlds and the stories told within them
  • A demonstrated personal interest in music, dance, or other rhythmic art form
  • Working knowledge of Adobe After Effects
  • Experience with Color Correction software packages and color standards
  • Able to draw rough storyboards
