DHX Media (Vancouver) Ltd. is an award-winning animation studio, which has produced over 300 half hours of original children’s shows. Employing a team of more than 250 of Canada’s top artists, our studio is full of talented and inspired professionals who are passionate about creating quality animation!

We’re hiring Feature Character & Prop Designers with previous production experience for a 2D animated feature to start in May 2015! We’re looking for portfolios that show a strong understanding of human/creature form; a variety of styles; mouthcharts, handcharts and turnarounds.

Responsibilities:

• Working with our Art Director and other Designers to create engaging, performable characters and props according to the style of the production;
• Translating character description and attitude from script to visual design;
• Submitting multiple design variations and revisions based on feedback from Directors;
• Creating model sheets of character turnarounds and facial/anatomical expressions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience designing characters and/or props on a series preferred;
• Strong drawing ability and a solid sense of design for 2D animation;
• Degree/Diploma from a recognized animation school desired;
• Able to work digitally (Photoshop, Flash, Sketchbook, etc. – Flash is required for some shows);
• Experience in 3D Design is an asset;
• A strong understanding of proportion, balance, perspective, dimension and dynamism;
• Able to take direction and work collaboratively within a team;
• Able to communicate professionally and positively;
• Well organized with good time management skills.
