Senior Storyboard Artist

Monolith Productions, a division of WB Games Inc., seeks a Storyboard Artist to be responsible for creating shots and sequences that depict action, movement, camera placement and visual blocking within a scene based on written and verbal descriptions from the script, cinematic director, and creative leadership.

Additionally, the Storyboard Artist will have an excellent compositional, editorial and understanding of camera. This role will work in conjunction with the Cinematic Director, Director of Art, and animatic editor to ensure the flow and readability of storyboard content is sufficient for communicating key narrative ideas, intention and dynamic movement within a sequence. This individual will be fluent in modern directorial conventions and cinematic language. The Storyboard Artist will also work closely with the design team, narrative team, and discipline leads in the visual and story development of AAA studio projects. 

  • Develop high-quality storyboard content that clearly communicates camera, acting and story ideas in a clear and entertaining way within defined production deadlines
  • Collaborate with the narrative and art groups to assist in the visual development of high-impact story moments.
  • Iterate and refine shots and content where needed.
  • Present and communicate storyboards to the studio directors and leads.
  • Actively participate in narrative & script reviews.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Work Experience

·        5-8 years working as a storyboard Artist or Illustrator

·        Previous game console development a plus

·        Previous film/TV experience a major plus

Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification

·        BA in art or related field or equivalent experience

Knowledge/Skills

 

·        At least 5+ years experience developing storyboard content for AAA games, movies or television media.

·        At least 5+ years experience with Photoshop and/or Painter.

·        Excellent draftsmanship ability across a variety of styles.

·        Must be able to draft and iterate quickly while maintaining narrative clarity

·        Excellent understanding of filmic language, editorial and acting craft.

·        Excellent ability to communicate story and narrative through visual medium.

·        Strong understanding of foundation art fundamentals including camera composition, internal/external silhouette, and implying camera movement & direction through stills.

·        Must be able to embrace the established art vision of the game and ensure it is delivered in its entirety at the end of the project.

·        Must have an active, passionate interest in games, movies and television to help drive story content to the next level.
