Test Operations Lead

Role Overview:
BioWare Quality Assurance acts as a quality gauge during development, testing not only the product, but the processes used to create the product. Quality Assurance is intended to be proactive and catch problems before they make it into the product. The TestOps Lead  is responsible for providing technical and operational support to the QA Department across multiple locations and disciplines.

 

Key Responsibilities:

TestOps Strategy

• Provide overall vision and leadership to the TestOps team.

• Manage and grow the capabilities of the TestOp team and its members.

• Act as an advocate for TestOps excellence within the studio

• Ensure quality and timely delivery of all QA deliverables for the studio development teams

 

Localization QA Support

• Improve Localization Testing Efficiency

• Provide LT provider with better context and training ("how does the game work?")

• Ensure time build delivery to LT test center

• Work with LT test center to develop processes and expectations that live up to studio expectations

• Standardize best practices

• Ensure LT Test Center has sufficient save game library

• Provide Build Library for LT Test Center

 

 

Submissions/Compliance

• Ownership Submissions Document

• Primary point of contact with internal key stakeholders and 1st party certification

• Provide awareness of top issues that have caused other products to fail certification

• Age Ratings support

• Legal support

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Other

• Manage hardware (console tracking, e.g. retail kits etc.) centrally and assist with software, hardware and equipment forecasts
for the QA Department at all locations.

• Manage non-development QA requests (e.g. Marketing, IT, Web-team, Community etc.)

• Provide scheduling overhead for internal on-boarding and QA Trainings

 

 

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in Quality Assurance
  • 3+ years of experience in project management
  • 2+ years of experience in Localization or Localization Testing
  • Proven track record of quality execution of strategic, innovative and operational objectives
  • Excellent program and project management skills (e.g. managing to timelines & budgets, setting expectations, sharing knowledge, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Technical writing experience or editorial experience is a plus.
  • Strategic planning
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.

 

 

The TestOps Lead:

  • Has the ability to find out-of-the-box/non-traditional ways of problem solving, and apply innovative thinking when approaching and defining solutions.
  • Is self-directed/motivated individual with the willingness and ability to personally jump in, roll up their sleeves and get to work in either a strategic or executional capacity when needed.

  • Is excellent at building and maintaining relationships with developers and external parties.
  • Has the ability to quickly identify the impact of a problem and provide actionable solutions.
  • Is excellent at and has a proven task prioritization, scheduling, follow-up/follow-through skills.
  • Is an excellent and effective communicator (verbal/written) with proven track record.
