Lead Java Developer

Description

We are currently looking for an experienced Lead Java Developer to join us in our new Vancouver facility. You will form the nucleus of a team of Java developers responsible for deploying and maintaining our core systems in a fresh campus, while expanding them to meet evolving requirements.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a variety of Java based technologies, whilst also liaising directly with the films production managers to scope and deliver solutions to Vancouver-based projects. The Vancouver team will operate as a key part of the global team, and you will collaborate regularly with counterparts in the Sydney office to evolve a number of core systems.

As the first developer in the Java team in Vancouver, you will be involved in recruiting and mentoring additional developers. You will interact regularly with artists and leads in the various production departments. You will be directly involved in the development and maintenance of production tracking and reporting systems; digital asset management systems; and database systems that play a key role in automating our production pipeline.

To be successful in this role you must have:

• At least 6 years Java development experience
• Previous technical leadership experience
• Demonstrated experience working with internal or external clients
• Track record of developing robust and scalable systems
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Good planning and estimating abilities

• Spring, JMS, Web Services, GWT
• Multi-site architectures
• AKKA and the Actor Model
• Agile methodologies
• Continuous integration/deployment
