Senior VFX Artist

Gameloft's growing New Orleans studio is adding a Senior VFX artist to the team. As a member of the Art team your main responsibility will be creating special effects based in particle systems, trails and other 3D elements.

Gameloft New Orleans works on a variety of projects, and in a variety of genres and art styles. We are looking for artists with versatility that can keep up with our diverse project opportunities. Our studio has worked on or contributed to Ice Age Village, Oregon Trail: American Settler, Cosmic Colony, Cars: Fast as Lightning, and Spiderman: Unlimited. Join us as we continue live services with some of these exciting projects and begin a new project adventure as well.

Responsibilities:

·         Creating high quality VFX content needed during the various phases of a project

·         Creating stunning visual effect elements in line with the visual direction defined by the Art Director.

·         Frequently interfacing with the Art Director and concept art team to ensure consistency between concept and visual effects assets.

·         Working within established art, technical and visual style parameters in accordance with the game design document and art design document.

·         Providing creative and innovative solutions to technical art problems and/or restrictions.

·         Consistently sharing and applying new industry and technical information within the Art department and to members of the studio generally.

·         Preparing assets for export to game engine.

·         Consistently striving to exceed the highest quality standards of the studio.

·         Taking initiative for improving the studio – striving to create efficient systems for use by the Art team and the studio in general.

·         Demonstrating enthusiasm, drive and a sense of urgency when performing job functions.

Qualifications

·         Minimum 5-7 years of professional experience in a video game production environment, mobile highly valued.

·         Minimum 3 shipped titles

·         Extensive portfolio displaying diverse artistic skills

·         Thorough understanding of VFX design and its functions within a game

·         Experience in particle systems and special effects with 3DSMax, ParticleFlow and other relevant software

·         Willingness and ability to contribute occasionally to other art (beyond VFX) a big plus

·         Ability to work as a team player with designers, developers, producers and other artists

·         Excellent problem solving skills

·         Experience working with proprietary tech and toolsets.

·         Experience with traditional 2D animated VFX would be a plus!

Chosen qualified candidates will be asked to complete an art test.
