Senior Artist/Animator, Cinematics (Temporary)

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Monolith Productions, a division of WB Games Inc seeks an Digital Artist to be responsible for collaborating on product cinematic design, for overseeing development of art concepts, storyboards, and visualizations, and for approvals of final art content, working very closely with the Director of Cinematics and Art Lead, Cinematics to develop and realize the vision of the cinematics. This person collaborates with Cinematic Lead and Cinematics Director to define the visual style of the cinematics, sometimes within the guidelines of an existing IP. 


Job Responsibilities:

·Work with cinematic leads and Cinematics Director to create concepts, prototypes and examples of cinematic quality. Will also provide specific cinematic Experience with creative visualization tools (Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro and/or equivalent editing tool).

·Interpret storyboards, animatics, and scripts into effective real-time cinematic moments. Primarily responsible for blocking out scenes using delivered in-game assets and animation.

·Implement cinematics into game engine.  

·Responsible for animating 3D character models in a realistic game, including working with motion capture data and hand keyframed animations.

JOB QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Work Experience

· Experience in Film/Video/Game production as a layout artist or equivalent.

· Position is recognized as having a very high level of artistic achievement.

· Proven good leadership skills. Able to communicate effectively verbally and visually.

Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification

· College or university diploma in Cinema or equivalent education (preferred).

Knowledge/Skills

· Experience with one or more types of 3D software (Maya, 3DS Max, etc.) assets that serve as a quality benchmark for the product.

· Outstanding modern and classical cinematic fundamentals with an application towards establishing mood, tone, and emotion.

· Excellent understanding of cinematic storytelling, pacing, and character development.

· Well versed in a variety of cinematic presentation styles with an ability to adapt as needed.

· Strong understanding of modern pop culture trends within the entertainment industry with an ability to successfully apply to cinematic style as needed.

· Design and drawing skills a plus.

· Traditional art skills and creativity a must.

· Experience with Photoshop and a major editing product (Final Cut, Premiere Pro, Avid).  .

· Knowledge of one or more types of 3D software a plus (Maya, 3DS Max is preferred, ZBrush, Mudbox).

· Solid communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

· Strong understanding of game development process.

· Able to work well under pressure and with deadlines.

· Diligence with individual and team tasks, schedule and adherence to budget limitations.

· Strong Troubleshooting skills.

· Positive attitude and a desire to bring new ideas to the team.

· Passion for making and playing great games, with an awareness of current titles and industry trends.
