Senior Character Rigger

Description: Bit Fry Game Studios is creating high-energy, action-packed, character-driven games. You will bring those characters to life. 

 

You will architect and own key game systems including animation sharing across hundreds of characters with wildly different proportions, technical set up and rigging for clothing and cosmetic customization, facial rig setup and animation sharing across all characters, and character and rig LOD’s supporting everything from low-end mobile devices, top of the line computers. 

 

You will be responsible for overhauling and maintaining the studio’s character animation pipeline. You will build, improve, and support rigs for a wide range of characters and props. You will design and implement a smooth workflow and toolchain that allows rapid iteration of assets across the character, and cinematics teams. You should be knowledgeable in all areas of the character technical pipeline including rigging, skinning, simulation, and process automation. 

 

Responsibilities:
• Rig characters, creatures, and props working closely with animators to achieve engaging in-game performance
• Provide technical support to artists working from our art workflows, collecting data to further improve the tools they are using
• Promote collaboration between art teams to level up content consistency
• Spread knowledge of the team's processes and help teams expand their technical know-how
• Give and take constructive feedback, direct next steps, and communicate clear goals and outcomes to your team
• Be an ambassador between art disciplines and engineering
• Design and build the base skeleton systems for all in-game characters, weapons and props, including facial setups
• Create high-quality animation rigs for a large variety of believable characters and creatures in Maya, to utilize key frame as well as motion capture data
• Advanced skills in skinning and auto-skinning
