Compositing Supervisor

The Compositing Supervisor directs a team to produce groundbreaking work performing stitch, clean up, and integrate VFX elements into high frame rate content at extremely large resolutions. This is a hands-on role requiring task delegation, direct oversight of technical approach, detailed feedback, and assistance in order to assure the highest quality work from every member of the compositing team.

In collaboration with the VFX supervisor, the Compositing Supervisor will ensure the creative direction and feedback received from the Director and VFX Supervisor are executed to the highest level by the compositing team, working to establish best practices, updated workflows and additional efficiencies to deliver the highest quality work.

Specific Functions/Activities: 
  • Work with VFX Supervisor to flawlessly integrate high resolution imagery into a post-production pipeline
  • Work on multiple stitching/composition platforms to process extremely high-resolution plates.
  • Establish quality and look of final shots and sequences.
  • Organize and execute Multi-camera stitching, Rotoscoping, Keying, Image Stabilization, Noise Reduction and CG comp.
  • Work with Technical Director to clearly document working methods and train new teams.
  • Clean and efficient script organization.
  • Present work clearly in Dailies.
Qualifications:
  • Deep understanding of high end VFX processes and pipeline.
  • 3-5 years experience as a Compositor Supervisor.
  • Must excel in large format photoreal comp work.
  • Must have worked with stitching/combining multiple plates.
  • Highly proficient in Nuke including VR toolsets.
  • Understanding of Maya (or similar 3D package), Boujou/Syntheyes/Mocha, Primatte/Keylight/Ultimatte, PTGui.
  • Knowledge of Mistica, Fusion, Resolve, and AfterEffects is a plus.
  • Strong team leader, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, take criticism, and work under high pressure with short deadlines.
