Professor of Animation: Story and Concept

SCAD seeks a professor of animation to help prepare the next generation of storytellers and concept artists.

In this position, you will help students create unique, unexpected stories with their own creative flair, sharing your rich imagination for concept design to educate the animation professionals of tomorrow. You should have stylistic versatility, strong drawing and painting skills, the ability to teach caricature and design, a mastery of architectural and organic forms, a good color sense, and a general knowledge of the CG process.

The ideal candidate has experience as a story artist or concept artist on three to five feature films, a minimum of seven years of experience on multiple television series, or four shipped AAA titles. Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Storyboard Pro, Flix, and Adobe Bridge, and an understanding of Maya is preferred.

The candidate should have strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to collaborate effectively with administration, faculty, and students, plus the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The ideal candidate also has the ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds.

Requirements
- Terminal degree or its equivalent in significant professional experience
- Professional industry experience as a story artist focusing on dynamic visual language and original ideas
- Reel, website, or flatbook with breakdown of your recent and/or past story work conveying an understanding of cinematic storytelling and visual design
- Reel, website, or flatbook with breakdown of your past students’ work (if relevant)
