Description
FuseFX is
currently seeking a Trainer to support our expanding studio on a global
scale. This role is responsible for the development and instruction
of technical training and onboarding for new and current employees in FuseFX
and subsidiary global studios, mainly focused on DCC Applications such as Maya,
Houdini, Nuke, Clarisse, and other related programs. This includes designing
course outlines, gathering supporting technical documentation and leading
instruction.
FuseFX is
an award-winning Visual Effects Studio providing visual effects services for
episodic television, feature films, commercials, virtual productions, and VR.
Founded in 2006, the company employs 800+ personnel across eight
studio locations and three brands. Our flagship studio is in Los
Angeles, CA, with locations in New York City, Vancouver, BC., and Atlanta. Our
Montreal, Toronto, and Bogota studios are serviced by FOLKS VFX, who
joined FuseFX in 2020. The Adelaide, Australia studio is serviced
by Rising Sun Pictures, who joined FuseFX in 2021.
Responsibilities
- ·
Oversee new hire onboarding using a
defined curriculum, welcome packet/cheat sheet, and some portal documentation, to
welcome new hires into the department on their first day with proper training
and tools introduction.

Facilitate the communication of toolset
development including changes/new features, and provide this information to the
CG team.
- ·
Build and maintain all portal page
documentation for DCC Pipeline Tools in a consistent, easy to understand,
visually map-based manner, and update these pages as the interfaces evolve.
- ·
Create recorded screen-capture
tutorials with narrated walkthroughs on the tools and processes for the artists
to watch on the portal pages, to go along with the documentation. Couple this
with live demonstrations for targeted groups/training sessions.
- ·
Oversee the Lunch-N-Learn artist-led
program, including all logistics as well as communication and recording of the
sessions.
- ·
Monitor communication about technology
issues be an advocate for tool/workflow based questions. Provide assistance
with usage, help troubleshoot issues, and funnel people to the appropriate
support personnel (IT, Pipeline, Global Head of CG, etc.) if there is an issue.

Develop useful curriculum for training
sessions in conjunction with the Global Head of CG and Global Production
Technology Supervisor, and conduct courses on these topics to improve artist
skillsets and knowledge.

Support Apprenticeship and emerging
talent programs such as internships through developing and delivering training
and evaluating progress.
- ·
Monitor industry-wide technical
advances to stay current with the needs of production and the goals of the
organization and proactively update the studio.
Traits
of a Successful Technical Trainer
·
Previous work experience required in a
visual effects or animation studio – ideally in an artist capacity.
·
Broad and expansive knowledge of VFX
pipelines, programs and skillsets and knowledge of current tools.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree
in Computer visualization, Visual Effects or Computer Animation.

Excellent communication, teaching and
interpersonal skills.
·
Team player who enjoys working with
local and global teams across multiple time-zones.
·
Experience with VFX software packages
such as Nuke, Maya, Houdini, Clarisse, etc. necessary.
