Lighting Artist

Description

FuseFX has an open Lighting position for our Los Angeles office! We have opportunities at our studio for an experienced and talented Lighting TD with a background in television and/or feature film VFX to join our creative team.

FuseFX is an award-winning Visual Effects Studio providing visual effects services for episodic television, feature films, commercials, virtual productions, and VR. Founded in 2006, the company employs 800+ personnel across eight studio locations and three brands. Our flagship studio is in Los Angeles, CA, with locations in New York City, Vancouver, BC., and Atlanta. Our Montreal, Toronto, and Bogota studios are serviced by FOLKS VFX, who joined FuseFX in 2020. The Adelaide, Australia studio is serviced by Rising Sun Pictures, who joined FuseFX in 2021.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Establish direct and reflected lighting, shadows, and compositing for each assigned shot.
  • Ensure that assigned shots fit in the continuity of a sequence and fulfill the vision of the Directors, Production Designer, Art Director, VFX Supervisor and Head of Lighting while meeting the production schedule.
  • Create and fine tune the direct lighting, reflections, shadows, and final compositing for each assigned shot, working with the resources and support provided.
  • Ensure quality of final frames and cleanliness of setups.
  • Submit work for review to CG Supervisor, Head of Lighting, Art Directors, Production Designers and/or VFX Supervisor.
  • Will optimise, refine and correct model geometry to satisfy the artistic requirements of the CG Supervisor.
  • Contribute innovative and original ideas towards optimising lighting and look development for the production.

 

Successful Candidates Will Have:

  • Environmental Lighting Artists with mid or senior level experience.
  • Maya and V-Ray skills desired
  • Photo-real material lookdev with PBR techniques
  • Strong understanding of lighting principles and color theory
  • Responsible for rendering all necessary elements for compositing team
  • Node based compositing skills helpful (i.e. Nuke)
  • 5+ years experience in a production environment
  • Should effectively execute all necessary assigned tasks while under tight production schedule deadlines
  • Strong creative and technical abilities
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Positive attitude
  • Work well in a team environment
