Senior Graphics Engineer

Role Summary

Madison Square Garden Entertainment is looking for an accomplished software engineer specializing in graphics programming. This role requires in-depth technical knowledge, aesthetic inclination, and a command of real-time immersive/interactive content systems. The ideal candidate will also have a comprehensive understanding of motion graphics/VFX production pipelines. As a Graphics Engineer, you will be integral in developing the real-time content tools & systems used to create next generation experiences for use in Sphere and across all MSG properties and partnerships.

Specific Functions/Activities Summary

• Lead the design and development of real-time content techniques and tools for large-scale immersive and interactive platforms
• Drive strategic research and development practices, proactively defining and pursuing innovation opportunities
• Apply best practices for efficient and effective development; look for opportunities to streamline and fully use current and emerging creative technology solutions
• Translate creative techniques into code
• Write technical documentation that clearly communicates complex solutions and challenges to a wide audience
• Guide teams in creating and adopting best practices for efficient and effective development; look for opportunities to streamline and fully use current and emerging creative technology solutions
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate, test, and optimize for various platforms
• Maintain an inclusive process that empowers the entire project team

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional experience as a software engineer, interactive engineer, Unreal developer, VR/AR/game developer or similar
• Unreal Engine expertise is required, including C++ and Blueprints, UI, AI, animation, optimization, and version control with Perforce
• Advanced knowledge of real-time rendering techniques, spherical rendering experience is a plus
• Experience writing shaders (Cg/ShaderLab, HLSL, GLSL)
• Must be able to use appropriate terminologies and language to accurately convey engineering challenges and solutions to non-technical audiences
• Strong aesthetic and critical faculties; experience as a vfx and/or technical artist is a plus
• Exceptional initiative and attention to detail
• A demonstrated track record of gaining trust and respect by consistently demonstrating sound creative, strategic, and analytical thinking skills, while maintaining composure in stressful situations
• Applicants should provide their own code samples for tools or apps along with technical design documentation

Education

Candidates who have completed 60 credits of college-level coursework (representing 2 years), or have shown similar self-development through certifications, trade school coursework, etc. are preferred.
