Faculty Position
2D Animation Faculty, Department of Art &
Design, Central Michigan University.
Full-time, tenure track faculty position to accommodate the
growing needs of the Animation program. This position begins August 22, 2022. Starting
salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. An attractive benefits
package including full medical and retirement contributions provided.
Summary of Duties
and Responsibilities:
Teach a range of courses in Animation including, but not limited
to:
Introduction to Animation, Animation Drawing I and II, Concept and
Character Design, Character Performance and overseeing independently developed student
work. Work closely with faculty in developing the Animation program. Meet the
university’s requirements for reappointment, tenure, and promotion, including
creative scholarship and service.
Required
Qualifications:
BFA or BA in Art or Animation with five years professional
experience in 2D Animation. Skills should include an extensive working
knowledge of tradigital animation in Toon Boom Harmony, with additional
experience in character design for animation. Ability to perform the essential
functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred
Qualifications:
MA or MFA in Animation, or MA in Art with five years professional
experience in 2D Animation, or. Professional studio experience in 2D Animation.
College level teaching experience as instructor of record.

The
Animation Program at Central Michigan University is housed in the Department of
Art & Design. While animation
courses have been taught since 2017, the Animation BFA program was officially
launched in the fall of 2019 and graduated its first senior class in the spring
of 2020. We are a growing program that offers a variety of animation classes
from 3D computer courses, to storyboarding, 2D tradigital, stop motion and
traditional media.
