WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for an experienced Principal Engineer to tackle complex software engineering problems in Product Design.

This role does design, technical architecture, and proof of concept in support of Nike’s pursuit of product creation and 3D pipeline. We are investing and developing leading capabilities for product design to unlock creativity!

The candidate needs to be highly collaborative with peers, have a coaching attitude, and have a phenomenal depth of 3D software engineering experience.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

If this is you, you’ll be working with the Digital Product Creation team and implementing end-to-end solutions in support of Nike’s 3D ecosystem, inclusive of our back-end pipelines and user-facing tools. You'll work closely with the product and architecture teams to provide leadership in driving technical design and solutions across multiple solution areas, contributing to the future success of the business through innovations in technology.

In a typical week, half of your time will be spent leading by example to craft, develop, operate, and integrate Nike and partner platforms and applications. The other half will be leadership responsibilities to drive technical priorities, define engineering standard methodologies, collaborate with peers, and help to translate business problems into technical solutions.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

We work with Software Engineers across all of Product Design. You will also partner closely with other Principal Engineers, Solution Architects, Engineering Directors, and Product Managers in both Product Innovation and other departments.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering
  • 2+ years as a technical lead on teams crafting solutions for 3D computer graphics
  • Excellent computer science fundamentals, including algorithms and data structures
  • Extensive technical knowledge of common production pipeline requirements
  • Hands-on experience implementing modern software architectural principles and patterns (test-driven development, domain-driven design, microservices, etc)
  • Experience with 3D pipeline integrations (Python, C++, third-party APIs)
  • Continuous deployment and automated testing experience
  • Experience with distributed cloud systems technology (Java, node.js, EC2, Lambda, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch, or Google Cloud/Azure equivalents)
  • Ability to build and manage relationships with multiple peers and multi-functional partners
  • Experience working in a technical leadership role on one or more agile teams in a product model
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience
