Instructor of Interdisciplinary Game and Immersive Media Design
Primary Purpose and Essential Functions:
The University of the Pacific invites applications for a full-time
non-tenure-track faculty position in Interdisciplinary Game and Immersive
Media Design to begin August 2022. The ideal candidates would demonstrate
the ability to teach courses in some or all the following areas: virtual and
augmented reality design, game art, and design, immersive design, and/or user
experience design, contributing to the BA in Media X, and the BFA in Art and
Graphic Design undergraduate majors. This is a one-year position with the
opportunity to renew.
Experience in new forms of digital media, innovative collaboration
methods, and skills in creating media from concept to final delivery is
essential; a portfolio or demonstration of research projects is required. Extra
weight will be given to candidates who demonstrate their ability to cross
boundaries and departments, via innovative interdisciplinary projects,
connecting with the humanities, sciences, and/or health fields.
The faculty member will teach 6 of a variety of unit-bearing
courses per year, advise students, participate in departmental and program
service, with the option to conduct academic or creative research. Coursework
may include foundation, intermediate and advanced courses in art, and design.
These courses will serve students in the Media X, and Art and Design majors.
Relevant professional experience is a plus.

• Masters degree
• Collegiate level teaching experience

• Industry or project experience

Requires extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand/wrist
