ASVP Virtual Production Supervisor

Job summary
Amazon Studios Virtual Production (ASVP) is looking for an ASVP Virtual Production Supervisor to help build a robust and innovative global Virtual Production Department. You will interface with production to help create films for Amazon Original Movies and Series for Prime Video. This includes setting up, developing, and managing teams of virtual production technicians and artists on various sized VP projects. Assist key creatives, such as the director, DP, VFX Supervisor, and others in creative planning, visualizing, shooting, integrating, and most of all, storytelling. Our projects include critically acclaimed, award-winning originals like Fleabag, Sound Of Metal and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and ground-breaking, popular series and movies like The Boys, Jack Ryan, Carnival Row, The Underground Railroad, One Night in Miami, and more.

A day in the life
Innovating requires thinking big. You will help lead R&D efforts by managing engineers and developers in creating tools that connect real-world photography equipment to game engine technology. Help create cloud workflows, that allow filmmakers from around the world collaborate in the ASVP cinematic environment. We want to create new technologies that enhance the filmmaking processes and create tools that inspire storytellers to experiment in a safe virtual environment.

About the team
This position will work closely with key creatives, production, and engineering at both AWS and Amazon Studio Technology. We obsess over the filmmaker and the filmmaking process. This is ground zero, for leading the development of VP filmmaking services, filmmaker tools, and the cultivation of talent at Amazon Studios. Our new filmmaker workflows will enhance safety, limit exposure, add schedule flexibility, and bring creative talent together in innovative ways.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of VFX Supervisor experience or equivalent
• 2+ years of on-set experience.
• Proficient knowledge of Unreal in a Virtual Production environment or equivalent
• Direct experience in working with engineers/developers in tool creation and pipeline development in a VP or VFX environments
• Understand concepts, practices, and procedures used in one or more of the following domains: VFX, live-action film production, Post-production, and the game technologies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous experience as a Virtual Production Supervisor.
• Experience with 1st Unit photography, physical production, or similar.
• Working knowledge of motion capture technologies.
• DCC experience a plus: Maya, Houdini, Blender, 3DSMax, Nuke, Zbrush, Substance Painter
• Working knowledge of version control systems, eg., Perforce, Git.
• Working knowledge with raytracing and other rendering techniques.
• Working knowledge with ACES/OCIO
• Working knowledge with gen lock and synchronization
• Familiarity with Unreal Blueprinting, C++ programming, and Python
• Knowledge of USD platform/pipeline
• VFX CG/Light/Comp department workflow experience at a VFX facility.
• Knowledge of physical lighting protocols such as DMX, artnet, and sACN a plus.
• A keen eye for photo-reality a huge plus.
