Intrepid Studios’ Ashes of Creation team is looking for a highly motivated and talented Web Backend Developer to join us, here in beautiful Southern California. This role will report to the Web-Platform team and support our Microservices team by developing and maintaining robust backend software and APIs for platform services! This is a great opportunity to unleash your creativity and partner with talented game veterans to craft a unique MMORPG experience that helps bring people together.

What you will accomplish:

• Design and develop truly maintainable backend software and APIs for platform services
• Evaluate and adopt technologies to improve platform capabilities 
• Develop automated unit tests and deployment systems
• Collaborate and continuously improve on code review practices to ensure the highest levels of code quality 
• Efficiently self-manage to balance working independently and with other developers
• Create and document complex systems in a clear manner for others to rely on as a reference and potentially expand upon.

What you bring to the team:

• A minimum of 5+ years of experience developing and deploying robust, extensible, maintainable and performant backend services and APIs 
• Comprehensive understanding of algorithms and data structures
• Understanding of transactional systems such as Stripe and Paypal 
• Professional experience with the following languages and technologies: Javascript, NodeJS, AWS and GCP 
• Professional experience with containerization and microservices architectures
• A positive, collaborative, and self-motivated mindset that works well with other developers
• Ability to articulate (both in written and verbal methods) complex processes in a clear manner
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience

Extra Awesome:

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering 
• Familiarity with Python and Golang 
• Experience in AAA game development
• A Passion for making and playing MMO games
• Fluent with modern, headless CMS systems
• Familiarity with Ashes of Creation
• A portfolio that demonstrates a keen eye for detail and the ability to create maintainable, high quality code
