THE POSITION
The 3D Artist creates best-in-class 3D models (environments, objects, and more), animations, and visual effects for our virtual reality experiences and interactive worlds that manifest on our advanced digital media displays. This person will work with both classic media and the latest software for creation to conceive, design, prototype, and deliver ideas, assets, and environments for cross-platform experiences that will define the future of live events. This is a full time position.
Location: LA preferred (hybrid)
Reports To: Creative Director
Responsibilities:
- Create compelling 3D assets, graphics, and animations using Unreal and the latest 3D modeling software.
- Contribute to story boards for the biggest live events and make concept art to convey ideas for new worlds, environments, VFX and the components that make them.
- Help to inform high-level strategic decisions with the rest of the Design and Executive teams
- Support game designers in creating meaningful interactive experiences for use in advanced, proprietary applications
- Quickly iterate and implement feedback from Design and Executive team
- Collaborate closely with a cross disciplinary team (Design, Motion, Product and Engineering)
- Quickly iterate designs for rapid prototype testing
- Stay on top of industry trends and emerging technologies
YOU
The ideal candidate is a highly creative individual who has rigorous attention to detail, a unique skill set in art creation and 3D modeling, with additional knowledge of the sports & eSports industry as well as digital, tech, and streaming media. We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the ability of conceptual design, creation, and successful delivery of compelling assets, worlds, and environments for use in today’s leading game engines. Ultimately, the candidate expertise and ingenuity in design should be accompanied with strong process and scalable methodologies.
Pivotal Experience, Expertise & Personal Characteristics:
- Strong working knowledge of industry standard software such as - 3DS Max, Maya, Blender, Octane, Vray, Corona, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.
- Strong experience in Unreal
- A strong portfolio of previous work and completed projects
- Proven work experience as a 3D Artist or similar role
- Strong knowledge about visual principles and design standards, being detail driven with amazing artistic skills (graphic, proportion, realism, texture, composition, color and lighting)
- Proven experience creating compelling worlds and environments
- Knowledge in-game mechanics and physics
- Experience in working with a cross-functional, distributed team from concept through completion and future iterations including agile methodologies
- Excellent time management skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience
- Unreal Engine Blueprint visual code experience a plus
- Passion for gaming, video live-streaming, sports or eSports is a plus
