Senior Director People Practices

Who are we hiring?
MSG is looking for a Senior Director of People Practices to be the lead people partner for the Sphere Studios Burbank location. This role will be a strategic thought partner to the Burbank leadership team and support all employees as we continue to build a culture of innovation and creativity to propel our work for MSG Sphere forwards. The ideal candidate will do this work through ensuring our people related programs and processes embody MSG’s mission and values. As a lead People role at Sphere Studios, this position will have the support of a People Practices Specialist on site and the larger corporate People Practices department including People Acquisition, Learning & Development, Compensation & Benefits, People Operations, and Internal Communications, who are based in New York, to drive our people programs and initiatives. We are looking for a candidate who will make a meaningful contribution to our success, and the success of MSG Sphere overall.

What will you do?

  • Partner with the local Leadership team to establish a culture that represents the Values and Mission of MSG.
  • Act as an advocate for all employees. Responsible for the day-to-day coaching and counseling of department heads/managers, facilitate the performance management process and ensure compliance of company policies, and legal employment regulations.
  • Ensure fair and consistent application of company policy and procedures, while promoting
  • positive employee morale. This includes performance management, interpersonal issues, learning techniques, conflict resolution and general application of company policy.
  • Experience in all foundational elements of people management, recruiting, culture, talent development and compensation planning.
  • Work with Director Compliance to evaluate and ensure California compliance with the overall People Practices discipline as it relates to EEO guidelines, company policy, employment background investigations, and vendor qualifications.
  • Committed to advancing representation in and out of the workplace.
  • Create, update and review employee and administrative policies under the supervision of the SVP of People Practices.

What do you need to succeed?
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in Human Resources management or related field of work
  • Experience working in a satellite environment as an HR professional in a human resources department, working in a studio, entertainment, production and or technical industry experience is a preferred
  • Experience with implementing and introducing new policies and processes to an existing organization
  • Experience and or exposure to a start-up environment is a plus and having the ability to support a business that will scale quickly.
  • Experience in leading an organization through change and facilitating change management programs.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication, organizational and time management skills required
  • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize in a deadline-oriented environment
  • Possess exceptional attention to detail and strong follow-up skills necessary
  • Demonstrates integrity, tact, diplomacy and a commitment to company values, and HR principles while ensuring the upmost consistency
  • Must be able to deal with all levels of management with the highest degree of confidentiality
  • Knowledge of HCM/Oracle Human Resources and ICIMS Systems preferred

  • Manages Specialist People Practices

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:

 

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule when needed
  • Travel to other office locations, NYC, LV on an as needed basis
